My Mac Mini just died, but once the new one arrives (sigh) I can start work on importing the xml file. You can use the txt/csv file to manually re-enter them into anything (painful), or a web service such as soundiiz to convert them into various music service formats. Once exported, what can be done with the data? Any chance to import back anything, or using other s/w convert the playlist to a standard format playlist? Pretty sad that Sonos have ignored anything to do with playlist management all these years, and especially with this major transition from legacy to ‘new’. The music library will not change during this migration. The devices will be reset to new and loose everything during the conversion to S2. When I end up splitting my Sonos into a S1 and S2 setup I want to be able to import the playlists back into the ‘new’ S1 setup. I think outputting the playlist to a csv file will allow me to then work with that to create a m3u playlist. Hope this helps others dealing with playlists. Once again, Sonos should be providing some kind of playlist managment and security for this functionality. Others may have found an easier way than this. All my playlists are referencing my music stored locally. If you make changes to your library after you produce the text file, there may be errors of some music files in the final playlist produced.

Note, as long as the text file produced by Phonos Plus matches exactly your music library structure it should have no errors. I had to change the default for mine in the program. You may need to make a change in Creator Playlist to match your playlist structure. The other thing to pay attention to is the order of your playlist structure, for example, mine is built with title, album, artist. The absolute addressing worked best for me because I have all my music on a 256gig USB thumb drive installed in a Vero4K (a version of Raspberry Pi).
The Creator Playlist pgm has the option to create the playlists with absolute or relative file name location info. All my tag info in the music files worked fine.

Update your Sonos music library and presto the playlists are listed in the Sonos playlist folder and can be loaded into queues for playing. I then used the Windows based Playlist Creator pgm (free) to create a M3u playlist file with the output location in the Sonos Playlist-1 folder at the top of my Music folder library. An xml format is supported, but I didn’t need to go that way, thank God. The Phonos Plus app output a text file of all my Sonos playlists. My son assisted with the Apple part of this, I don’t use any Apple products any more. As suggested above, I used the Apple Phonos Plus app (free) developed by controlav, thanks a lot for it. Goods news, exporting Sonos playlists and importing them back works, with the help of 2 other pgms.
